These 3 Hair Tools Could Be Breaking Your Hair

Hair breakage sucks. The only thing worse than dry hair is breaking, splitting, damaged hair. But, what happens when it seems you’ve been doing everything right and your hair is still breaking?

If you’ve already been on a moisture or vitamin binge and changed up your hair care regiment, then maybe it’s time to take a look at your accessories. We already know that too tight ponytails and tension can kill our strands, but there are other silent hair breakers that could be lurking in your hair arsenal. Click through to see what tools you may need to goodbye to.

Hair and Bobby Pins

I know, right? Whether straight or curly, we all need them at one point or another for our tresses. But, it turns out these hairdo savers, can quickly become hair don’ts if they are rusting or the protective ends have broken off. If os, they can snag, pull and even rip through your tucked tresses. If you’re like me and do not plan on giving up hair pins anytime soon, invest in good ones that are sealed with plastic and have sufficient protection on the ends. Be sure to ditch them as soon as they break or rust.

Your Favorite Comb

Yes, your favorite detangling tool could be the source of breakage, especially if you’re not combing from ends to root. Avoid combs and brushes with paint coatings that can snag onto hair and be sure sure to select the right type of comb for your detangling needs. If you’re not a fan of finger combing your hair, start with a wider tooth comb and a moisturizing conditioner. Some even swear by wooden combs. Avoid combing hair when its dripping wet and be sure to baby your hair as your work through sections. Your hair will thank you for it!

Anything With Metal Moving Parts Or Attachments

Sure, you’ve given up ponytail holders with those metal parts that snag on your hair. But, they aren’t the only culprits. Avoid anything with metal that can clamp onto, get stuck in or pull on hair. This includes metal duckbill clips and those too cute for words bowtie clips.
