Neon Peach Hair Is the Brightest Color Trend of the Summer

With multi-color dye jobs taking over Instagram feeds, spotting one all-over color is unusual. It's like seeing a racehorse in a field of unicorns. Nonetheless, neon peach hair is glowing up on Instagram. And when I say glowing, I mean that literally.

The fluorescent orange look went viral last summer when Jessica Jewel, a Los Angeles–based hairstylist, custom mixed a neon peach color that was so bright I felt like I needed sunglasses so I could stare at it forever. (You can find more about Jewel in a recent edition of my column Five on Five.) A single picture of the vivid hair color was liked more 20,000 times on Instagram in just a couple days, and a video of the color process in action has been watched almost 90,000 times. With summer just around the corner, neon peach is poised to be the most popular hair-color trend of the season once again.

What separates the incredibly vibrant look from other peach hair trends is Pulp Riot's popular Neon Electric dye collection. Jewel combined a hot pink called Candy and an electric orange dubbed Lava to create the color. To get super-specific, she mixed together four parts Candy and one part Lava. When brushed all over her client's pre-lightened hair and washed out with cold water, it looked like this:

You can see the viral coloring process video here.

Pulp Riot is only sold to professionals, so you'll have to make an appointment at a salon that stocks the Neon Electric collection to get in on this neon peach fantasy. Be sure to show your stylist some inspo images like these:

Looking for an at-home option? Luckily, Lime Crime has a semi-permanent shade called Neon Peach. You can also mix together Arctic Fox's semipermanent hair colors in Electric Paradise (a neon pink), Porange (a neon orange), and Arctic Mist Diluter like the band's co-founder Kristen Leanne did recently. No matter what you do, just be prepared to bleach your hair to a platinum blonde shade no matter what your hair color may be.

Or you can get extensions sewn in like Atlanta-based Darius Boone recently did for one of his clients.
